Nexus and swv. Various Locations. Another Job Part 2
Continued from Here
Baldur: *grunts and then gasps and reaches back to grab Legacy by the arm* Crystal Guards!
Lumen: What? Where?
George: Baldur and Gavin, get the lass out of here!
Gavin: *is the centaur boy. Starts to say something, but in the next moment he's grappling with a creature that looks like it's made of spun crystal thread*
George: *war cry and attacks with his hammer, which bounces off the creature*
Lumen: *will quickly scoop Legacy up, earning a startled squeak from the tiny woman. Will also reach to grab Baldur*
Baldur: *gasps, and then cries out as he sees George fall* NO!
Crystal guard: *fires a dart at Lumen, even as a regular guardsman tries to strike the lion-man with his ax*
Lumen: *wore shoes today! Will do his best to shield Legacy from the dart, even as he kicks at the ax-wielding guardsman*
Crystal guard: *presses forward, swinging what looks like a net with shining webbing. Someone's outstretched arm is shredded as the net passes through it*
Legacy: *horrified squeak*
Lumen: Oh, *unprintable*!
Gavin: *cries out with pain then, and something warm and wet falls on Legacy*
Legacy: *afraid to look, but looks anyway*
scene: *all she sees is a crowded confusion of fighting. And there is red spattered on her dress*
Lumen: *trying to get the bleep away from the Crystal guard now*
Legacy: *reeling a bit from a combination of seeing Gavin's blood on her dress, and the crowd's feelings*
Crystal guard: *has lost its net, but bladed fingers are reaching for Lumen's face!*
Legacy: *belatedly realizes she still has her mop handle, will swing at the Crystal guard's hand* *goes pale when the handle gets sliced to pieces* Lumen, RUN!!!
bladed hand: *inches from Lumen's face*
Crystal guard: *suddenly ravels!*
Lumen: What the *BLEEP*?!
Legacy: *jaw drops*
someone: The Queen's dead!
crowd: *echoing the call*
Legacy: *boggling so much now*
Lumen: *makes sure Legacy's ears are covered, victory roar!*
Baldur: George!
blue-beard: *from where he's kneeling by Gavin* He's alright, lad. That's more than I can say for this Aliat.
Lumen: *will set Legacy and Baldur on their feet, and move to see if he can't help out in some way*
Gavin: *panting, his eyes closed as he lays on his side. There is a puddle around him*
Charlie: -You have any wishes, furball?-
Lumen: -I keep a jar of 'em in my satchel for emergencies.- *will get the jar out*
George: *gently stroking the short, soft fur of the dying boy* Easy, lad. You're not alone.
Baldur: *don't mind him. His beard is very wet now as he cries*
Lumen: *fishes a wish out* *quietly* I wish Gavin were well enough to live.
Baldur: *blinks and bats at cobalt blue sparkles*
George: What is this??
blue-beard: *frowning at Lumen*
Lumen: Something from a Guardian Fae. The Greatest Creator wouldn't let it happen if it wasn't meant to happen. *quieter* It'll save Gavin.
blue-beard: *looks quickly back to the Aliat boy*
Gavin: *has stopped panting, though his cheek fur's still fluffed. He's also squirming slightly and biting his lip*
Baldur: *looks up at Lumen, and then puts his hands out to Legacy* She's sick. We need to get her away from the blood.
George: *looks up worriedly*
Legacy: *is also clinging tightly to Lumen's shirt* *is flashing back to one of the last times she was around her father*
Lumen: *getting another wish out* I wish for the blood that's been spilled to go away.
blue-beard: *watches the new sparkles start up and the blood vanish* Where'd it go?
Lumen: It got taken away from here. The being that took it is probably going to put it somewhere where they can cause a bit of mischief.
Legacy: O_O *sags as she faints*
Lumen: Ack!
Col: *just appeared out of the crowd with the last two members of the original group of dwarves* What happened to the lass?
Gavin: *as he rolls wearily to his lower chest* Spoken like a true dwarf.
Col: *ignores you! And comes to fuss over Legacy*
Lumen: *mentally kicking himself for causing Legacy to faint* I said something stupid. It reminded her of the fight.
rough dwarf hands: *shove through the crowd and offer a woolen cloak, travel stained and worn, but clean*
Lumen: *will gently wrap Legacy in the cloak, murmuring to her softly*
Col: Peter sent us to bring her. *glances at George and Baldur* And the rest of you.
Charlie: -Ready to come back yet?-
Lumen: -I think there's going to be something happening soon. Legacy fainted.-
Charlie: -Just tell them you need to bring her out of the crowd.-
Lumen: -Right. Didn't think of that.- *quietly* I should get her out of the crowd. Too many people can overwhelm her sometimes.
Col: The princess wants to see her. It's quiet back there.
Lumen: -...Snow White wants to see Legacy.-
Charlie: *grumble* -Whatever.-
Legacy: *quiet little sound*
Lumen: Let's get going, then. The sooner she's away from the crowd, the better. *moving to stand carefully, holding Legacy close*
George: *small, startled sound as a wish floats over and sits on his nose* *and then a bigger startled sound as he's surrounded by sparkles!*
other dwarves: *giving him startled looks, but Baldur's explaining what that is*
Lumen: *looks that way, brows raising curiously*
Col: George, what did you do?
George: I only wished I could see!
Lumen: *soft snerk* Meant to happen, then.
Col: Who did it? *looks up at Lumen with a quizzical frown*
Legacy: *soft, dazed sound*
Lumen: Same Guardian Fae who saved Gavin. *gently rubbing Legacy's back*
Col: He's a lot stronger than any fae folk I've ever heard of. *starts herding everyone but Gavin and the two dwarves who came with him through the crowd and through the great doors that admitted the queen*
Lumen: *small nod* He's a Guardian Fae. They can be pretty powerful. The one I know better isn't though. She's also not nearly as inclined to pull pranks as some of the others, but she's still got her moments.
Col: *shoots the tall young man a look as he leads the group toward a narrow door to one side of a huge, grand, staircase* Pranks?
Lumen: Stuff like pretending to light the tip of my tail on fire.
Col: *expression says he doesn't get it*
Baldur: Tail? *looks* Oh.
George: *face palm*
Lumen: She does it to make me react. *gentle cuddle for Legacy when he feels her squirm* *quietly* She'll prolly kick my butt for not getting her kid out of danger quickly though.
Charlie: -After she's done ranting at me.- *sounds so unimpressed*
George: *hand down* The lass is fae?
Damson: *shows Lumen a butt*
Lumen: No, she's just a ward of a Guardian Fae. *quietly* Her original father was cruel to her and abandoned her to fend for herself. Her original mother knows where she was brought to, and is friends with the Guardian Fae.
Col: *sharp look back as they come out into one of the balcony type corridors* She was taken by the fae?
Lumen: *headshake* She wasn't taken. She went willingly.
Col: Still, willing or no, she was taken from the regular world?
Lumen: *quietly* She died in the regular world.
Col: *soberly, as George sucks in air* Aye. Taken. *compassionate look of understanding for the girl in Lumen's arms, and then he turns to tap on a beautifully carved door*
Lumen: All that matters now is that she's happy where we live. And she's become what she was supposed to be.
Damson: *shows Lumen a picture of Legacy wearing a pair of pretty wings*
Lumen: *very soft chuckle*
Col: *is one of three quizzical looks given to Lumen* *is also opening the door after a female voice called to him to come in*
Lumen: *quietly* She doesn't have wings of her own, but she's made a few pairs to wear.
Col: *chuckles, his expression saying that he understands girls* *then faces forward and bows to a black-haired girl who is sitting on a divan piled with pillows* I've brought her, Snow.
Snowdrop: *looks to be a tiny bit shorter than Legacy. Has the look of a small Roma girl, with her strong but lovely features and abundant black curls. Also has a pattern of black tattoos all over her face* Col. Don't bow. You're embarrassing me. *distracted even as she speaks by hugs from George and Baldur and by looking with worry toward the form in Lumen's arms* What happened?
Col: The fight was too much for her.
Snowdrop: *knocks extra pillows flying with a sweep of one hand* Lay her here.
Lumen: *will move to do so, rumbling quietly as Legacy makes a soft sound like crying*
Snowdrop: *gentle hands smooth back Legacy's hair and hood, and then she's startling and looking at Damson as the little wildling flies up* Forgive me. I didn't know you were there.
Lumen: *blink blink, surprised that Snowdrop can see Damson*
Legacy: *crying silently now*
Snowdrop: *attention back to Legacy. Turns so that she can use both hands to smooth the fairer girl's hair* Shhhh. It's alright. Everything's alright now. Shhhh.
dwarves: *alternating between studying the spot the princess spoke to and fretting about Legacy*
Legacy: *trembling as she fights not to flash back further*
Snowdrop: *soothing talk, and then starts singing a sweet little song. Which has different words, but the same tune as one Legacy's mother sang when she was tiny*
Col: *had departed, but now he's back with a little blue earthenware dish full of massive purple strawberries that let out a strong smell of nom*
Legacy: *hiccoughing softly now*
Snowdrop: *finishes her song, and then tucks a fuzzy pillow into Legacy's arms*
Col: *slips past George and Baldur* Lass, look at this... uh? *watches a berry rise in a wobbling way from the bowl*
Legacy: *turns her head slightly* *quietly* Damson... Ask first.
Col: *looks at her quizzically, and then winces as the berry falls and is caught by Baldur* I think I just saw something. A big line with a circle beneath it.
Legacy: *quietly* It was too big for her to lift...
Col: *as Baldur sets the berry back on the pile in the bowl* For who, lass?
Legacy: *softly* My friend, Damson.
Snowdrop: She's some kind of tiny, invisible being. I can hear her, but not see her.
Baldur: Hear her?
Snowdrop: *slight smile* Yes. She's got wings that buzz, and she's fae.
Legacy: Wildling.
Col: *soft gasp* She just showed me an image of herself lifting a loveheart to you.
Legacy: She was worried about me, I think?
Col: *sudden brightening of understanding* She wants to bring you a loveheart. Here. Here's the whole bowl. And I've sugar too, if you like it.
Lumen: ...You know girls.
Legacy: *will try and sit up*
Lumen: Careful. *fret, hover*
Snowdrop: Are you sure you're strong enough?
Legacy: *quietly* I think I can sit up.
Lumen: *will help*
Snowdrop: *puts pillows all around her. From the trembling of her hand, she's in maybe about the same shape as Legacy is*
dwarves: *are going to hover around both girls and watch Lumen closely*
Lumen: *is going to rumble quietly*
Legacy: *acting on impulse, will give Snowdrop a hug*
Snowdrop: *startles, but then returns the hug in a strong, motherly way* *softly* Thank you.
Lumen: *has noticed Legacy's dress. Is going to wish it clean and warmed!*
Snowdrop: *meeps at sparkles and looks around*
George: *wipes at the swirling sparkles* What is it now?
Lumen: I just noticed something. *slight, hopeful grin as the sparkles die away and leave Legacy comfortably warmed and smelling like roses*
Legacy: *quietly* Lumen, you doof.
Lumen: *big grin, and then offers her one of the strawberries*
Snowdrop: *sits back to watch, her dark eyes flicking from face to face as she studies everything with what seems to be characteristic calm*
Legacy: *will accept the offered nom*
Col: *offers the silver sprinkler in his hand* Sugar?
Legacy: No, thank you.
Col: *nods and takes the shaker back, then watches with concerned eyes*
Lumen and Baldur: *both trying to nick a berry from opposite sides of Legacy's bowl*
George: *swats both with his fist*
Baldur: Urk! *so sheepish!*
Lumen: Awk! *ducks his head*
Snowdrop: *bites her lip with tired amusement, her dark eyes dancing as she glances at Legacy*
Legacy: *quiet amusement clear on her face*
Snowdrop: *softly, eyes still dancing* Who is this boy?
Legacy: *blushing a bit* My intended.
Snowdrop: *looks between the pair* Are you the same race? *asks this quietly and naturally, as though it's fully polite*
Legacy: Yes. Even if we don't look it. *small smile*
Col and George: *interested glancing back and forth*
Baldur: *can feel someone tiny holding onto his finger* O.O
Snowdrop: What are your people called?
Legacy: We're humans.
Snowdrop, Col, and George: *all look surprised*
Snowdrop: Human?
Legacy: *nods*
Lumen: Yeah. We've both got something going on so we don't look like what most people think is normal for humans.
Snowdrop: *concerned* Is it a curse?
Lumen: Naw. *headshake*
Legacy: It's something we were each born with. Mine gave me my eye color and the ability to sense what other people are feeling.
Lumen: *grin* Mine made me furry.
George: And loud. *looks up at Lumen with a grin*
Lumen: *brat grin* I think the guards peed their pants when I roared.
George: They weren't the only ones. *pat pat for Lumen's side, since he can't reach higher*
Lumen: *has the good grace to look sheepish* Oops.
Legacy: Where we're from, people can be born with a multitude of abilities, or can be born not looking fully human. I know of several people who can manipulate fire to some degree. And a set of quadruplets who can all breathe under water.
Lumen: And a guy who looks like he's half-snake.
Col: *doubtful wonder* And all caused by the same thing?
Legacy: *nods* It runs in families.
Lumen: *nod* One of the quadruplets Legacy mentioned is my dad. My mom can make lightning. My grandpa has wings and hollow bones like a bird.
Col: *brows up* So you don't even get the same thing as your parents had.
Legacy: It happens sometimes. But it's more an individual thing, really. Though my first mother told me that strange eye colors tend to happen in our family, every so often.
George: *shakes his head* Hard to believe that's not some backfiring fae gift. *slight chuckle* Have another loveheart, lass.
Legacy: Thank you. *will proceed to do so*
Snowdrop: *accepts a berry herself and shakes her head at the sugar, then looks toward the door as it opens*
Hawise: *looks in. Softly* Peter's calling for you, Col, Baldur, and George.
dwarves: *hugs for both the girls, and light swats for Lumen*
Lumen: *very light swats in return*
Legacy: *hugs for the dwarves*
Snowdrop: *ditto, and then watches the men go with loving concern and an expression that says she wants to go with them*
Hawise: *watches the men go, and then tip-toes into the room, her big eyes going to Legacy*
Legacy: *small smile for Hawise*
Hawise: *over she comes, and settles to couch in front of the divan, inviting the smaller girls by her very position to put their feet on her lower back* *looks up at Lumen. Softly* You saved my brother.
Lumen: Well, I couldn't just do nothing...
Hawise: It's still good to say thank you.
Lumen: *quietly* You're welcome.
Hawise: *sweet, shy smile, and then turns to Legacy* *softly* I'm Hawise.
Legacy: My name is Legacy.
Hawise: *slight perk of surprise* That's a beautiful name.
Legacy: *ducks her head shyly*
Snowdrop: *looks up at Lumen, and then back to Legacy* You're not from this world, are you?
Hawise: *another surprised and interested perk*
Lumen: *as Legacy has another strawberry* No, we're not.
Snowdrop: *quietly* Why are you here?
Legacy: *mid strawberry-nom* We were sent to help.
Snowdrop: By whom?
Legacy: The Greatest Creator, and by someone who works for Him.
Hawise: Do you mean the Starsinger? *little pointed ears are twitching with her interest*
Legacy: *nod* That's one of His names.
Hawise: *excited little bounce* He brought my people here when my dat and ammies were younger than me.
Legacy: He brought Lumen and me here to help with the situation here.
Snowdrop: Are you staying?
Legacy: *headshake* No. We're needed elsewhere.
Lumen: You remember what you left in the oven, right?
Snowdrop: *concerned look!*
Hawise: *knows nothing of cooking in ovens. Is only curious*
Legacy: *meep* *totally forgot about the roast*
Lumen: It's in the slow oven, right? *has nooo clue about those three different ovens*
Legacy: Yes, but I don't remember what time I put it in to start cooking.
Snowdrop: *sad to say it, but she is a young kitchen queen herself and so knows that she must* You'd better go back.
Legacy: *hugs Snowdrop, will also move to hug Hawise*
Hawise: *softly, as she snuggles close and makes a little trill* You'll always be my friend.
Snowdrop: Take the lovehearts. Col will be heartbroken if you don't. *more softly* I'll tell the men where you've gone.
Legacy: Thank you. *small nod*
Lumen: *pokes at the crown she's wearing*
Legacy: *blink* Oh! *reaches for the crown* I need to give this back.
Hawise: What is it?
Legacy: It's a circlet. One of the guys put it on my head earlier.
Snowdrop: *soft smile as she settles it on her own curls* It's a maiden crown. I guess I can wear it, for a little while longer.
Legacy: *very soft chuckle* Yes, I suppose so.
Hawise: You wear something before instead of after you're married?
Snowdrop: I'll have a crown of coins when I become queen. *looks down at her skirt to try and hide a blush with her curls*
Hawise: Oh.
Legacy: *will lean against Lumen a bit*
Lumen: *goes to one knee to put his arms around her, then goes slightly cross-eyed* I know where Damson is. So we're ready to go?
Legacy: *reaching for the bowl of strawberries* Now we are.
Lumen: Okay. *nods to the other girls, then holds his girl close and presses the right button to bring her home to her warm, good-smelling kitchen, where the roast sizzles in her dark green Aga stove*
Charlie: -Your pay's in the teapot. And your mother's on the warpath.- *makes a click sound to show he's gone*
Legacy: *to Lumen* We should get dinner set up so we can at least try and calm Aoife down.
Lumen: *hears the front door open* I'm not sure we have time. *settles her in the comfy chair by the window*
Legacy: *making sure she doesn't sink too far into the big, green, over-stuffed recliner*
Lumen: *unties her skirts and straightens them, and then trucks over to start taking out the pretty tin dishes with the green and blue roses on them*
Legacy: *smooths her skirts a bit more*
Aoife: *from the front door* Lola, come on! It's time to come inside!
Deidre: *trots in with Rose wrapped around her, then stops and lifts her head, nose wrinkling with distress* -Leggy sissy hurted?-
Legacy: *headshake* I'm fine, Deedee.
Deidre: *comes over and sniffs as Aoife calls again and Violet runs into the kitchen laughing* -Pooped?- *sniffs berries* -Buh?-
Rose: *will crawl into her older sister's lap and coil up comfortably in her quiet way*
Violet: *over to the stasis box to get out things needed for the dinner!*
Legacy: They were a gift.
Deidre: -What iz? Noms for Leggy-sissy, but what iz?-
Aoife: Lola, I mean it! Come on! *sounds half laughing and half exasperated*
Legacy: They're strawberries, but they're purple. *chuckles*
Deidre: :o -Mama! Purple strawbabies!-
Aoife: I know, but I can't come see till Lola stops jumping around out here and comes in.
Legacy: *so much amusement*
Lola: *having a blast playing with Bandit!*
Aoife: Lumen, your sheep's not in the yard!
Lumen: *awks and scrambles to go catch Bandit*
Damson: *is that little tug on Legacy's under skirt. Thinks it can come off now*
Legacy: *surprised sound, frowns as she realizes she's got a Rose on her lap, and strawberries in hand* Damson, I can't get up. *so amused*
Aoife: *sighs as she walks into the kitchen, then looks at Legacy* Why do you need to get up?
Legacy: So I can get the skirt that's under my dress off.
Aoife: *puffs another sigh* Wish.
Legacy: ... *would love to face palm* I wish that the green skirt that I'm wearing could be in the laundry basket instead.
Aoife: *makes grey-green twinkles and the skirt is gone*
Deidre: *yup, trying to catch twinkles*
Lola: *coming to see where Mama and Grandma are!*
Aoife: There you are. I thought you wanted to come make sure your mom is alright.
Violet: *head in the stasis box* What kind of bread do I get out, Leggy?
Legacy: The sourdough loaf'll be fine, Violet.
Lola: *gonna bounce over to Mama and Rose*
Violet: *pulls out the little loaf and turns to carry it to the table, but stops to laugh as Rose reaches down to tweak one of Lola's fuzzy ears*
Lola: *whickers at Rose*
Rose: *touches Lola's nose, and then curls up again*
Deidre: *distracted by what Violet's doing, and goes to watch*
Aoife: *grabs a dinette chair and brings it over by Legacy's, her eyes grey with concern as she looks at her eldest daughter*
Legacy: Where's Twip?
Aoife: *soft snort* With his dad, of course. *reaches to touch Legacy's face* -How are you?-
Legacy: -A little tired, but not hurt.- *bites her lower lip as she remembers the Crystal guard*
Aoife: *winces at the feeling of the memory, her eyes going greyer* -What's that, then?-
Legacy: -They're called Crystal guard. They're... They're worse than some of the things that Optimus Prima and her team deal with.-
Aoife: *eyes narrow slightly as she looks somewhere else, and then widen slightly* -Yuck. The spider *deleted*'s kids were in there, controlling them.-
Legacy: -...That explains the stomping I heard later.-
Aoife: -I really dislike most spider women.-
Legacy: *very soft snerk* *and then she's taking a deep breath as she remembers that one of the Crystal guard nearly got Lumen*
Aoife: *leans over and hugs* -I could have kicked Charlie's aft. But he said you wouldn't come back.-
Legacy: *hugs* *softly* -To be honest, I didn't even notice him trying to get me back. Or that I was resisting.-
Aoife: *leans back slightly to give her gentle girl a look of surprise*
Legacy: *totally serious*
Aoife: *lifts her brows wonderingly, and then hugs again* -You've left part of yourself there. I can feel it.-
Legacy: *softly* -I made friends with people there.-
Aoife: *nods as she sits up* -You're going to see some of them again. At least once.-
Legacy: *small nod*
Violet: *small hands on Legacy's knees as she waits for her sister to stop inside talking with her mother*
Legacy: *blinks and looks to Violet*
Violet: I put the catsup, and the bread. We need the other connymints. What else should I put?
Legacy: *small smile* Did Lumen put enough plates out for everyone?
Violet: I felt five.
Legacy: Did he remember to set a place for DeeDee on a chair?
Violet: *hunkers down slightly and peeks* Nope. And he took the forks'nspoons when he ran away.
Legacy: *soft chuckle* Then we should fix that, and make sure there's plates for everyone.
Aoife: *soft snerk as she gets up and goes to the cupboard to get another plate and Deidre's non slip place mat. Hands these to her older purple girl, and then watches Violet hurry to put them in place* So do you want me to tell your dad about this, or do you want to tell him?
Legacy: *quietly* I should tell him. He'll still worry.
Aoife: *nod* *quiet too* But if you want to do that kind of work, you know he won't hold you back.
Legacy: *small nod* *quietly* I still don't get why I wasn't able to notice Charlie trying to pull me back here.
Aoife: *another soft snort as she gets out the salt and pepper and gives them to Violet* You were focused on what you were doing. And determined to see things out.
Legacy: ...Oh. *sheepish blush now*
Aoife: *hands Violet the shakers for onion spice mix and Swindle's famous table blend* Think you'd do it again?
Violet: *back up on the chair. Shakers in place!*
Legacy: Probably.
Aoife: *snerks* *and then turns and looks through the window* Where did that goof go?
Legacy: After Bandit, and maybe into the garden.
Aoife: He's been sleeping in the feed shed? *gives Violet the liquid seasoning and watches her put it in place*
Legacy: Which "he"?
Aoife: *as a tawny streak scoots past the back porch* What other "he" do you have?
Legacy: Are you referring to Bandit or the furry doofus?
Aoife: *snerk* Your doofus. *watches Damson slightly move the shakers and things on the table*
Legacy: *soft snort* Yes, he has.
Aoife: *soft chuckle* And Ken insists on going back to his apartment each night when he comes to the Brownstone.
Legacy: *small smile* We both have doofuses.
Aoife: *small smile and snerk, then comes over to offer to set the strawberries on the table, since Legacy's not eating them* So was Snow White's prince handsome?
Legacy: *hands Aoife the bowl* He's a Dwarf. I really didn't notice if he was handsome or not.
Aoife: *surprised* The prince is a Dwarf? Huh. *walks over and sets the berry bowl by Legacy's plate, then looks over her shoulder with a raised eyebrow as the window shakes very faintly* Did your doofus just head butt the house?
Legacy: He was probably leaning down to grab something, and Bandit headbutted his butt. *nods* And yeah, the prince in that reality's a Dwarf named Peter.
Aoife: *nods to the information about Peter, and then creases her brow incredulously* I thought he said he had Bandit trained.
Deidre: *amused kitty murp from where she's sitting in the corner with Lola*
Legacy: He's been trying, at least.
Lumen: *here he is through the kitchen door, stripped to his undershirt and boarder shorts, LARP costume and boots forgotten somewhere outside, and the bunch of grapes that he's been watching carefully for days in one hand* Oh yay, somebody finished the table. I'll just stick the silverware on, and we can eat!
Aoife: *snorts at him and comes to take Rose so that Legacy can get up and put the rest of the meal on the table according to her own preferences* *eyes are green again, and she's going to enjoy the quiet visit with family here before she goes home in time to meet Mr. Toudou when he brings Twip home*
Legacy: *will move to get the rest of the meal set up on the table, humming quietly all the while. Once the meal's finished, and she and Lumen have seen Aoife and everyone else home safely, she'll end up falling asleep in the recliner and dreaming of her adventures*
