Chase's 'verse, Nexus, and JVerse, Near the Sign and Detroit Maritime Museum, Surprising Reunion
Okay. This... wasn't Detroit... For one thing, Chase was pretty sure that Detroit didn't have huge organic creatures flying in the sky... And the sky wasn't green in Detroit, either.... And there was a slightly bigger mech approaching him... "Er... Hi."
"You look pretty lost... Door not go where it was supposed to?" At least the mech didn't seem like the sort to slag someone the moment they turned around... And maybe he knew how to get out of this place...
"Yeah... I was supposed to be meeting someone at their place...."
The strange mech nodded, a look of understanding clear on his face, "It happens to everyone at some point... Here," the mech offered him a communicator-looking object grabbed from a nearby bowl beneath a giant opticsore of a sign, "The coordinate scanners are over there. Once you get coordinates, all you'll need to do is push the green button, and you'll be back to where you started from."
...Okay, so maybe things were looking up. "Thanks..." The mech nodded before heading off down a path, leaving Chase to study the object he was given for a few moments. It really did look like a communicator, kind of like ones he had seen humans use, in fact... As he made his way over to what the other mech had called 'coordinate scanners', Chase couldn't help but wonder whether he was being pranked during a defrag cycle...
The coordinate scanner's readout of "Error - Please try again." was unexpected... and a bit disturbing... But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Trying again gave a string of numbers that he supposed was the coordinates for the Autobot base, and once the communicator-looking device beeped and the display read "Ready", he was pushing the green button and vanishing in a flash of light and soft swish of displaced air.
WakeJumper looked up as he caught a slight flash of light from nearby. Wreck-Gar was back at the warehouse, so why...?
Okay. Whoever was in charge upstairs and had it out for him was clearly laughing their aft off right now... "Ugh... That... wasn't fun..." Rolling over onto his back, the first sight that came to his optics was the concerned-looking face of yet another unfamiliar mech... One who reminded him strongly of the little Autobot who he shared mini oil cakes with... What was his name aga-oh, yeah, WakeJumper.
"Hey, are you alright? What was that light just now?" WakeJumper couldn't believe he was really seeing an alternate of the mech who used to slip him mini oil cakes when nobody was looking... "Do you need help?"
"I have no idea... I think I'm alright though, if I can get things to stop spinning... Where am I, anyways?" Chase moved to sit up slowly, wondering if somehow, the machines in the weird place had messed up. The orange and black mech crouched nearby looked a bit spooked, but wasn't drawing a weapon. That was a good sign, right?
"You're at the docks for the Detroit Maritime Museum... Do you need any medical assistance? I know a few repair subroutines..." And then there was a clap of thunder. Great. It was going to rain. "Or do you want someplace dry to watch the rain from?"
"Maritime Museum? Great... First the weird place with the organics in the sky, now I get dropped way off course... Obviously, someone up there thinks it's 'Make Chase's Life The Pit Day' today..." Getting to his feet, Chase missed the slight look of surprise on the orange and black mech's face.
"Organics in the sky? Was there a sign there, too?" WakeJumper knew the odds, which were slim-to-none, but he could still hope for someone familiar to talk to, right? Seeing the way Chase reacted to the question, a startled look, confirmed that he had been to the Nexus recently... Maybe hoping was starting to pay off...
"Yeah... You know the place?" Okay, so something was clearly going on... Time to dig a bit deeper.
"Yeah... It's how I got here after my reality collapsed on itself for some reason... The coordinate scanners gave me an 'Error' reading when I tried to get back home... So if it's 'Make Chase's Life The Pit Day' for you, it's 'Make WakeJumper's Life Miserable Forever' for me..." WakeJumper knew he was on to something as he watched Chase work the information over in his processor.
"... You're pulling my stabilizing servo... WakeJumper's just an itty-bitty bot..." There was no way this big guy was WakeJumper. It was impossible.
"Was just an itty-bitty bot... Growth spurts happen... And sometimes, doors lead to places that shouldn't exist, but do," WakeJumper felt a bit sorry for Chase... After all, he hadn't asked to be yanked out of the reality... But odds were looking pretty good that this wasn't the same mech he remembered... Better make sure...
Chase fidgeted a bit as he watched the mech claiming to be WakeJumper get a strange device out of a compartment and... Oh, slag... aim it at him! Dropping into a crouch, he braced for an attack... That never happened. Instead, the mech studied whatever was shown on the device, before his expression changed to one of surprise mixed with what might've been sympathy or pity... It was hard to tell those two apart with some mechs...
WakeJumper did his best not to snicker as he watched Chase drop into a crouch... After all, he probably had reacted the same way when he had first been scanned for coordinates... Speaking of... The device confirmed that the flier was indeed the one from WakeJumper's original reality... "Here... Take a look at this...."
Chase hesitantly rose and moved to walk over to see what the orange and black mech was talking about... Which was coordinates... That faded away as he watched. The mech then aimed the weird device at himself, and showed Chase the result... which was identical to what had just been on... wait... "Hey, the numbers are fading for you too..."
WakeJumper nodded as the heavens opened up with a torrential downpour, "Yeah... Our reality doesn't exist anymore... At some point, there was a time fluctuation that kicked me to the Nexus... And it probably looped back and did the same to you... Let's get out of the rain, and I'll try and explain as well as I can..."
The warehouse was surprisingly quiet at night, considering who else was sharing the space... Wreck-Gar didn't even snore... Which didn't help the restless feeling Chase had... WakeJumper had done his best to make the corner of the warehouse as comfortable as possible, even moving several crates so Chase could be closer to the skylights, but there was no way he was going to be recharging tonight... There was way too much to think about...
