NaNoWriMo 2013 Chapter 6

Chapter Six: At The Car Wash

"Remind me again why I agreed to this, Breakdown? You know I dislike organics touching me." Knockout groused as he followed Breakdown to a destination only known to the frontline soldier. Breakdown had insisted on dragging him away from an experiment he had been conducting regarding alternate fuel sources should the energon mines ever run dry. Granted, he had only been observing the effects of combining a couple of stable chemicals, and it was not as though that part of the experiment needed his attention at the moment. Still, he had better things to do than tail after his long time friend.

"Trust me, doc. This will be worth it. Thing is, though, you gotta promise you will not blab about this. If Lord Megatron or Starscream ever found out, it would be a very bad thing." Well now, this was unusual, Knockout decided. Usually, it was him keeping things a secret from the commanders.

"Alright, Breakdown, you have my word that I will not say a word about this. Though I must admit, I am rather curious as to why you dragged me all the way out here."

Breakdown chuckled as he pulled around the back of a building proclaiming itself to be "C&D Car Wash". "I think you will like what I have in mind." With that, the big sports utility vehicle was carefully herding Knockout toward one of the empty bays. "Try not to lose your cool. The other one has no idea about us, and I want to keep it that way, since she has a loud vocoder."

"Wait, 'other one'? What are you talking about, Breakdown?" Before Knockout could get a satisfactory answer, a tall human woman with hair similar in color to his own finish strolled out with a second human woman of similar height. The second human had hair that almost bordered on orange, and green eyes. After a brief discussion with the darker haired woman, the second woman went around to the wash bay that Breakdown was currently occupying. //Breakdown, what have you gotten me into this time?!//

//Relax. You got the human who is really good at detailing. And I got you the deluxe package. Interior, exterior, AND polished rims. And do not worry. She knows to keep things quiet.// Breakdown had NO right to sound that smug. It was almost as though he knew something that Knockout did not.

//Breakdown, what have you done?!// Knockout did not have time to dwell on the feeling of panic he felt at that moment, as the dark haired human was currently testing the water temperature, even as music blared from the bay Breakdown was in.

"Relax. Cat will not be able to hear anything with as loud as that music is." The human stated quietlly as she finished checking the water temperature. "Let me know if the temperature is too hot or too cold for you." With that, she was gently and carefully spraying his chassis down with blissfully warm water. It really was quite distracting, and relaxing. Perhaps Breakdown had the right idea after all.

Quietly, not trusting the music blaring from the bay Breakdown was in to mask his voice, Knockout spoke to the woman. "The temperature is fine. I will let you know if it becomes uncomfortable."

As the woman worked, Knockout felt himself slipping into a nearly blissful state. Breakdown had been right. She did know how to do her job, and how to do it quite well. Never once had the water temperature gotten uncomfortable, and the way she had used a soft sponge (after all, it was not as though he really got into anything that would require rougher treatment, unlike Breakdown) was pure heaven.

Knockout had relaxed enough to sink onto his shocks slightly as he was skillfully rinsed. He almost did not notice when the human stopped washing his exterior and carefully opened his doors. The touch of a leather cleaning wipe was but a momentarily distracting thing, as the human maneuvered skillfully and cleaned every inch of his already pristine interior. Really, he would have to thank Breakdown for treating him to this luxurious spa day.

"Just about done. All I have left to do is polish your rims, but I do not think that will take terribly long. You really take good care of yourself, from what I have seen." The woman lavishing all of the attention on him stated quietly, a soft chuckle in her voice. Knockout made an absent hum of agreement, even as the woman carefully extracted herself from his interior. Moments later, he could feel her carefully working polish into one of his rims. The care and attention to detail the human showed was quite pleasing to the medic, and he found he did not have it in him to be upset with Breakdown any longer. Really, a pampering like this? It was a wonder Breakdown had kept quiet about it for so long!

"Hey, Dallas, I just got done washing the sports utility vehicle in my bay. Do I wait for the owner to get back, or what?" The other woman asked, peeking into the bay currently occupied by Knockout and his attendent.

"No, Cat. The guy set up a tab. He is paid until next week, and promised he would pay for three more months. This car is on his tab as well. He said something about doing a favor for a friend. Do you have any other clients on your schedule for today?" Dallas asked, not taking her eyes from her task.

"No. The sports utility vehicle was the last one on my list. Why? Do you need me to do something?" Cat asked, a puzzled look crossing her face.

"No. I was only wondering, because if you did not have anyone else lined up, I was going to say you could go home early." Dallas said as she began wiping the polishing compound from the rim she was working on.

"Oooh. Sweet! I will do that then. After I put my stuff away. See you tomorrow, Dallas." With that, Cat was moving to put soap and sponges away.

"See you, kitty Cat. Try not to do anything I cannot bail you out of jail for, because I am broke as hell." Dallas said with a grin, earning her a round of laughter from Cat.

"Yeah, right. Like I could with Mom and Pops watching my every move when I am home from work and school." Cat called from the bay she was currently cleaning up. Knockout thought he might be imagining things, but he could almost swear he could hear Breakdown purring.

Perhaps he would ask Denver if she would give him a wash sometime, when the weather was agreeable to her. He was almost curious about how his human would do, now that he knew that she was somewhere in the same town as the car wash. She had been a bit delayed in texting him her destination, but the message had arrived earlier in the day, which had done a lot to improve his mood, and now he was being pampered. Today was a very good day, indeed.
