mbv, A road near Lisa's farm, Emo-Bambi...
"Whoah! Watch out!" The sound of screeching tires, followed by a really bad sounding thunk as a large white-tailed deer bounced off the hood of Recon's alt-mode.
"Are you alright, Hayden?" Recon activated her holoform to check on the young man in the driver's seat.
"Yeah...I'm fine, Recon... They weren't kidding when they said deer can be lethal... Think we can get going again?" The holoform nodded.
"I think so... and it looks like we've got company... Vehicle approaching..." Hayden could see the lights from the other car.
---
Alice blinked and frowned over her feet, which were on the dashboard. "Petra... did that deer just, like, smack itself into the front of the car ahead of us?"
Petra groaned, resisting the urge to facepalm while driving, "I'll call Lisa and Mia... though they should already be out here, seeing as Patrick's truck broke down nearby..."
Alice snerked softly despite the grave expression on her face and dug into the pocket of her pink cargo pants. "The pancake truck. Better let me call. You're driving."
Petra nodded, slowing to a stop behind the other vehicle, "I'll go check to see if they're alright..."
"Just promise not to tell Javan about this. The last thing we need is roadkill in the smoker." Alice hit the speedial and put the phone to her ear.
That earned Alice a dirty look as Petra walked towards the red car, "As if the fatties weren't bad enough..."
The young brunette stuck out her tongue, but made no other reply.
Lisa answered on the first ring, and in the background, Mia could be heard cussing about how the truck couldn't possibly STILL be drive-able, //Bennington Towing, this is Lisa speaking.//
//Guess what?// chirped Alice. //You get a two for one today!//
//...If it's that Ward girl who ran into the lightpole and kept the chunk of concrete from the base of it a month before she got rear-ended by that delivery van again...//
Alice snerked, but then cleared her throat. //Nah. Bambi decided he couldn't take it anymore and took the emo way out.//
Lisa gasped a bit, earning her a look from Mia, //Oh no, were there any baby deer there or was it just a big buck this time, and are you sure it wasn't a steer like what Mr. Reed hit last year?//
//Now that you mention it, he could have just been desperate for a date with this classy Porsche. 2009 911.//
A long silence that could only mean Lisa was wincing at the idea of such a nice car meeting such a cruel fate, before Mia's voice could be heard on the other end of the line, //Goin' bah Lisa's face, a reallah nahce car got all smashed up... wh't kahnd, 'n where'bouts?//
//2009 Porsche 911. Classy deepish candy apple colour. Y'know. Real candy apple, not that wee colour they call candy apple. Just had a date with one of those deer with the big tails.// Alice frowned slightly as she watched Petra interact with the driver and passenger of the car; a young man and a rather statuesque woman.
//...Y'u mean t' tell me th't some rich kid w'th a flashy car ran int' a whaht-tail?" Mia groaned a bit, muttering another curseword under her breath.
//Like, that's what I've been saying, girlfriend.// Alice frowned and quirked an eyebrow, though her dark eyes were twinkling slightly.
//Welp, y'all c'n wait f'r Lisa 'n me t' drop Patrick's clunker off at th' shop, rahght? 'E 'n Emi're borrowin' mah car f'r th' ev'nin'...// Mia's smirk was obvious in her tone of voice, even as Lisa tried to herd her back into the truck.
//And how long's that gonna take?// Alice injected just a bit of whine into her voice.
//Ah'd say 'bout-// Mia's estimate was cut off as Lisa grabbed the phone from her friend.
//Ten minutes, tops... We're actually close to the shop right now, so I'll drop Mia and Patrick's pancake'd truck off there, and come help out where you are.// Lisa all but chirped, earning grumbling from Mia.
//So, like, what are we supposed to do in the meantime?//
//Find out what that nice of a car is doing out here in BFE?"
//I can't get out. Rewind's sleeping in my shoe.//
//Then put her around your neck, Alice...//
//She's asleep.// She spread her legs slightly and peered between them to where a bit of tan fur peeked out of the top of her black #$@!# boot.
//...So not my problem.// With that, Lisa hung up.
"Hey!" Alice stared at the phone as Petra came back. "Who the @##$#@ said you could develop a tude?"
Petra raised an eyebrow, "Mia? She's practically walking 'tude, Alice..." The petite Asian glanced over towards the Porsche, before switching to comms, /I think we may have a problem on our hands, Arcee. The Porsche has a spark.../
"No. Lisa." Alice frowned and blew a gum bubble, then shoved the phone back in her pocket and reached down to dump wrigglies out of her boots and pull them on. /You're slaggin' me, Prowl. Is it 'Con?/
Petra shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose, "Rodney's been making her worry lately, Alice... She's a bit on edge since he's not calling, again..." /I don't think so...for one, I saw an Autobrand on the steering wheel when I checked on the driver and passenger... I think Perceptor's theory about multiple realities might actually be a valid one.../
"Oh. So I have to kick the little punk's $$#@#@ again, huh? He never pulled that bs when I dated him." /...You are slaggin' me./ Rewind, meanwhile, was blinking sleepily from where she had been dumped on the floor, before making an attempt to climb Alice's pants and seek a pocket to curl up in. This elicited a shriek and a curse as Alice hit her head on the dash in her haste to remove her furry friend from the NOT tunnel.
"I would advise against it... especially since Alex hasn't called Mia in days, though he has e-mailed her several times, and mentioned..." Petra blinked and sighed, before shaking her head and moving to go back to stand by the red car. /I'm not. Scan for yourself./
/Just let me get Rewind.... Rewind, get the $$$#$#%$$%# out of there! There's a strange Transformer on the road ahead of us, and I have to go look at it./ She grabbed two little ferret legs and pulled, cussing more about claws. Rewind, for her part, pipped softly, trying to look cute to avoid getting into trouble, and wiggled, not liking being dangled by two legs in the least.
"There." Alice jumped out of the car, absently tucking the ferret into the cargo pocket with the phone as she headed over to the red car and walked around to the front of it.
At that moment, the lights from a pick-up truck could be seen approaching, earning a glance from Petra.
Alice didn't even look that way, instead poking the dead deer and making faces, and then turning her attention to hunkering down and examining the dings on the front of the Porsche.
[What I want to know,] she said softly in Cybertronian. [Is how the fraggin' pit you missed seeing that thing coming. Are you cratered or something?]
There was a very slight, startled toot, and then she stood up to look at the surfer dude kid who'd been driving. "Not used to driving on country roads, huh?"
At the embarrassed and surprised-sounding explanation, Petra shook her head, before sighing and muttering something about left turns and Albequerque as the tow truck parked nearby and a miniscule blonde woman got out.
"I don't think they really need a tow." Alice came over to lean against the truck and folded her arms over her chest. "I think they need one of those doohickies like Mia was playing with the other day when she was drunk."
The blonde blinked a bit, "Ooooh, you mean one of those things like what Rachel has and like what Jack has and what Skylar has but doesn't know that I know he has and like what Alex has too..."
"The one she was playing keepaway with Alex with." A serious nod.
"...Wait, does that mean these two are from another reality, because that would be really really cool but probably not so cool for them since I don't think they meant to wind up in the back country of town..."
"Scan the car, kid." Alice examined one sparkly pink fingernail, and then used it to scratch her nose, eyebrows lifting in a 'what can I tell you' look.
"..." The blonde turned towards Recon, scanning and earning a bit of protest, before her eyes widened and she launched into a ramble-fit.
Alice reached over and clocked her gently on the back of the head.
"Ow! Hey! That wasn't very nice, Alice, I mean come on, honestly, did you really have to do that?"
"It got you straightened out." She lifted her brows again, though her eyes were sympathetic.
That earned Alice a raspberry from the blonde, before she went back to the truck and got something out of the glove compartment, "Since Mia was playing keepaway with this, I think it'd be a better idea to let someone who really needs it to get back to where they belong have it, and besides, it's not like we won't have an opportunity to get more of these thingies anyways..."
"Sweet." The brunette peered at it, her forehead nearly bumping into Lisa's as the shorter girl held it up to show her. "But let's let Petra give it to them, huh?"
"...How come?" Lisa blinked a bit, looking very confused.
Petra sighed, "Because that way, they won't have to go through half of what you'd say just to get a basic crash-course in how to use it."
Lisa pouted, giving Petra a wounded look, "You're mean." Alice handed her a sleeping ferret.
Petra could only shake her head a bit, before taking the small device and instructing the red car and her friend on its use and how to program it.
Alice watched them vanish with a slight flash and a swish of displaced air from where she still leaned against the truck, now with an arm around Lisa's shoulders. She paused for a moment afterward, listening.
And then she launched herself away from the tow truck with a string of cursing. [Frag slagging PIT, hide the deer! Here comes Jazz!]

"You think the guys'd believe us if we told them we wound up in another reality?" Hayden watched as the scenery changed from farmland to the sprawling suburbs of the university town
"Maybe, maybe not... but I'm never driving you across country for school again."
